Hlomla Dandala was born in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, in 1974. Due to his tenure as the Methodist Church of South Africa’s Presiding Bishop, his father, Mvume Dandala, is well-known in the community. In addition, he presided over the All Africa Conference of Churches. One could argue that his rise to fame was aided by the family name.
