Acting Career of Sthandile Nkosi
In the 2018 season of MTVbase Shuga Down South S2, she made her on-screen debut as a cute girl and manicurist. She also played the part of Mary, a teenage maid, in the 2019 Netflix thriller series Dead Places. Sthandile made an appearance as Amy in the NFVF Female Film slate on Pretty’s Daughter (2019). She then appeared in the 2019 thriller Mamodibe, directed by Mzansi Magic, in the supporting role of Amahle. [2]
Sthandile played the antagonist Bethany Mazibuko in the children’s theater production The Revealers (2020), which went across Johanesburg South Schools. After playing Koketso in Mzansi Magic’s Nnake (Leburugraphy flick), Sthandile went on to take on more somber roles in major motion pictures. She is visible on the first season of Vula Vala (2020 – Black brain Pictures), where she plays the trustworthy, streetwise yet sweet shop manager Teaspoon.

She portrayed the protagonist character, Ntsiki, a teenage girl who is a reincarnated goddess who comes to preserve the township. Where ancestral ground is found from being gentrified, in the Netflix original Supernatural African-based six-part series The Brave Ones in 2022. She had to learn new talents to play this character, such as swimming, in order to fully immerse herself for the first episode. Sthandile also learned the value of matching the vocal attributes to the emotions of the sequences that were filmed.
She was chosen to play the title role of Mbali in Evod’s production of uMbali that same year. In the role, she was a former township beauty queen who would stop at nothing to earn money to support her daughter’s opulent lifestyle.
