Early life
Tebogo was born on February 21, 1992. Raised in Tlhabane, Rustenburg, he experienced hardship in life when his father passed away when he was twelve years old. He was forced to move around a lot growing up, switching between family members.
As a result, he had a very unfavorable childhood. Which made him a problematic teenager growing up. Lerato Sefora Modise is Sefora’s sister, while Rebaone Reba Mosime is his cousin. [1]

It is unknown where Tebogo attended his elementary school. However, he went to Rustenburg’s Kele Park Secondary School, where he grew up.
The year 2009 saw him graduate from Kele Secondary School. Thereafter, Tebogo Sefora went on to study radio and television presentation at the Oakfields College in Johannesburg.

Before his big breaks on television, Tebogo Sefora appeared on multiple shows as a cameo or extra. He even had a brief appearance on Rhythm City. According to The Sowetan, he quit his job as a bankteller in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
But that turned out to be a bad idea, as he then struggled to secure any permanent roles afterwards. But this inspired him to work even harder to make this acting thing work. Because deep down, he always knew that he was meant to be in front of the camera.
So, when he got the audition for the role of Thapelo on Champions Mzansi, he gave it his all. And after securing the role, he couldn’t believe it as he was working with some of his idols including the legendary Sello Maake, Tumelo Masha, and Kgomotso Christopher.
Sefora was genuinely star struck but had to maintain his composure and deliver while learning from the best. After his success with Champions, he got another permanent role on House of Zwide as Thato, a role most people know him by.

“After my brief appearance, everything was silent. I did not have a job for two years. He would occasionally receive engagements, but nothing consistent was coming his way. As aforementioned, his role on champions opened many opportunities for him in the industry. He then landed the role of Thato on House of Zwide, which is a role of a gay guy who is a fashion designer. His mother had disowned him after finding out he was gay, so he went to Johannesburg to live with his aunt, who happens to be Maria, Mampho’s mother.
Ona initially likes him, but after discovering he’s gay, she’s forced to move on. And eventually Laz is expected to date Thato. Sefora says his role of Thato is closer to home, as he is also a fashionista like Thato in real life. However, Sefora is not gay in real life.
