Early life of Hope Mbhele
Hope Mbhele was born on April 6, 1996, in Umthwalume, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal. Her Facebook, however, lists Hibberdene as her hometown. She spent most of her childhood there and went to Hibberdene Academy before later studying at Marburg Secondary School.
As of 2025, Hope Mbhele is 29 years old. She grew up in an entrepreneurial family, which shaped her drive and ambition. She has three siblings, including her sister Phindile Mbhele. Moreover, her mother worked as a radio DJ, a role that inspired Hope’s passion for music and later influenced her interest in Disk Jockeying.

Career of Hope Mbhele
Hope Nosipho Mbhele first came onto the acting scene around 2016, when she appeared as an extra on Uzalo. Her big break came in 2021, when she was cast as Busisiwe “Mabusi” in Umkhokha, a Mzansi Magic drama. That role remains one of her signature characters. She also took up a presenting role on Issa Vibe on SABC1 in the same year.
In 2022, she expanded her screen roles: she played Amahle in Uzalo, took on Baleka in the historical drama Shaka: iLembe, and starred as Gugu in the Showmax film Goodbye Gogo. She also appeared in No Love Lost, a romantic comedy film produced by Minnie Dlamini-Jones, playing the lead role of Amahle. Another film she acted in was Not Joe’s Wedding, where she played a character called Jesse.
In 2023, she took on the precursor spin-off show Umkhokha: The Curse, reprising her Mabusi role.[2] Also in mid-2023, she played Baleka in Shaka: iLembe but later bid farewell to that role in August 2023.
